Happy Dog Week everyone!!
Well, Pavement Runner has done it again. Had I not gone over and read his posts, I wouldn’t know that it’s Dog Week! I don’t know about you but I think I’ll celebrate with a rawhide….Not for me silly…for my 4 legged buddy.
I don’t think I’ve ever really talked about her but she’s a constant presence in our house and we like it like that!
Zoey is our 11 year old (maybe older, we’re not really sure) German Shepard Mix. The story behind how she came to be a permanent resident in our home is kind of interesting so I thought it would be worth sharing. So kick back, relax, and enjoy!
After months of talking about it, he finally convinced me to be a take on a foster dog. I figured I would help out a little and do some good.
So I went down to the local Petco one Saturday to see who just what little furball would be coming home with me. What I saw was the greatest group of pups, I could’ve imagined and they were all 5 years old or older.
I looked at an amazing basset hound, but he had a home then I saw Zoey just sitting in her cage, chilling. Not at all interested in trying to impress the potential parents. It was that attitude that made me want to foster her.
That was 7 years ago and we couldn’t be happier with her. Yes she is old, and a little grumpy at times but she’s amazing with E, she’s an amazing protector and she’s our furry rock. Oh and did I mention our vaccuum cleaner?
I can’t imagine life without her. If you ever have a chance, go visit the shelter. Who knows, you might just walk away with a best friend!
