On Thanksgiving, I started the day at a Turkey Trot in Kirkwood. You couldn’t beat the weather and I had every intention of trotting the race (10:00 minute mile). After all, I am pregnant and don’t want to over do it. 😉 I even tried getting E to go with me but he wanted to stay home with daddy.
So I went by myself, which I have no problem doing. Would I love to do it as a family? Yes, maybe someday but right now, it’s just me.
I was at the starting line ready to stroll through the course. It was a beautiful day and I just wanted to enjoy it until…
I got closer to the start line. The number of people participating was huge. It took me about 3 minutes to get to the start line after the race started. The closer I got the more I didn’t want to stroll anymore. I knew I wasn’t going to PR today being 18 weeks pregnant but I would’ve been a little disappointed if I hadn’t given it my best effort.
So mile 1 was the worst. SOOO many people. I spent more energy just bobbing all the people. Second mile was pretty good and the last mile was the best. It definitely wasn’t a PR but I will call it a pregnancy PR. I finished in 28:02. I’ll call that my pregnancy PR.
I felt so good after the race even though my IT Bands were screaming.
I was happy that for almost 30 minutes, I didn’t focus on being pregnant. I got lost in the run. I got lost in the excitement and energy. It reminded me why I love running. It was also my first run on Team Oiselle.
I think it was definitely a brillian run! How was your Thanksgiving? Did you run? Did you workout? I hope you had a great day!
