We had an absolute blast this weekend. In the wake of Friday’s tragedy, all I wanted to do is be with E. I wanted to make memories, start traditions, just be a family. So that’s exactly what we did. I’ve always wanted to do something nice for my neighbors and the people in our lives that help us out but never got organized enough to do it…until this year.
My mom gave me some of her favorite recipes as my St. Nick gift and one of those was for Hot Chocolate. This gave me an idea, I’d make those cute jars of Hot Chocolate Mix and a little treat to go along with it.
So Sunday afternoon, my sis and I ran to Michael’s and the grocery store to get the supplies:
Wrapping and Storage:
1. 8 Tins
2. 12 Canning Jars
3. Ribbon
Hot Chocolate Mix:
1. 2 Bags of Mini Marshmallows (Peppermint and regular)
2. 1 Tub of Ovaltine
3. 26 Oz of Powdered Milk
4. 6 OZ of Creamer
5. 1 lb of Powdered Sugar
6. Cocoa to Taste
Pretzel/Rolo Turtles:
1. 1 lb Bag of mini pretzels
2. 3 bags of Rolos
3. 2 bags of Pecans
Then it was all hands on deck!

These are such great ideas and it looks like you really had lots of fun making them! Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome! It was alot of fun!
Love this–what a nice way to do a little good in the world. And nothing like doing it in diapers! ; )
The preferred outfit for us is just a diaper or Football PJ’s. 🙂
Great ideas!
Thanks!
Love how simple they are! Sophia and I made sugar cookies using the recipe I emailed you and it was a whole day production (and I even made the dough the night before). Cutting, baking and decorating the cookies took us all morning and afternoon. Then I cleaned up…just in time to make dinner. What was funny though was halfway through making the cookies Sophia turns to me and says Momma!?! Know what?!? We can paint next!!” I had to laugh. Paint?!? I told her I can only wrap my mind around one big activity per day. Hehe:)
I still want to make your cookies but I might be selfish and make them for us. I love the idea of decorating with him but maybe I’ll do what you did and make the dough the night before. How long did you have let it warm up before you started rolling?
I left it out for maybe five minutes and the worked it a little while it was still in the saran wrap before starting to roll it out. I did half of the dough at a time. And Sophia loved doing the sprinkles. To cut down on the mess, I put frosted cookies on a cookie sheet for her and let her go at it with the sprinkles. The edge of the cookie sheet keeps the sprinkles from scattering across the countertop onto the floor. Some still end up on the floor but not ALL of them end up on the floor. Haha! Let me know how it goes:)
Homemade gifts are the best! Looks like you two had an awesome time. Love your SPIbelt giveaway, too… I’m not entering b/c I have one, but I’ll help spread the word!
