I love Kelly’s outlook on being a Fit mom.  I find her to be very relatable!  Enjoy getting to know Kelly!

I am a New England girl, born and raised, and I now reside just north of Boston with my husband and son.  We’ve been married for almost 5 years and our son is almost 2. Now I am a stay-at-home mom, but prior to that I was a middle & high school history teacher. I love running and strength training; it is an important part of my everyday activity.

What grown-up job did you want to have when you were a child?

I always wanted to be a lawyer or own a bakery/coffee shop. I won’t deny those are jobs I still want. I even took my LSAT when I was in undergrad. Maybe someday, I will go back.

What TV show are you embarrassed about watching?

I am probably the most embarrassed about Teen Mom. I mean really, but it is a guilty pleasure and I just can’t seem to stop.

How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging since January 2011.

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I wanted a place to write about the recipes that I tested out in my kitchen, then I found out I was pregnant and I post-poned starting my blog until January, and I started blogging about baking, pregnancy and my family.

What has been your biggest blogging related accomplishment?
I think the biggest accomplishment would be getting picked to be a Zooma race Ambassador

What motivates you to exercise?
I think my biggest motivator is to stay healthy for my son (and future children) so that I can around for a very long time, but also, since I am a stay-at-home mom exercise is essential for me. It allows me to have some “me time” or if the little one is with me, I can get a good sweat and that makes me happy.

What fitness activities do you engage in?
I love running and strength training. I am part of a gym that does small group training for strength, and that is been great for me.

What are your fitness goals for 2013?
My fitness goal is to cut 20 minutes off of my half-marathon PR. Lofty, but with time and effort very attainable.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned since becoming a mom?
You can’t control anything. In my life I am as Type-A as they come. With kids, that all flies out the window, and that applies to workouts as well. When your child is sick (especially as a SAHM) sometimes you have to work out extremely early or late or maybe not at all. You have to not let it become and issue and remember you have this wonderful little person in your life.

Wow! You are amazing Kelly! My wife also loves running and strength exercises. She is also motivated to become a fit mom and I really appreciate it how she managed her time to do all these stuff.

Thank you, Ralph! I admit, it can be tough and easy to find excuses, but I know at the end of the day it makes me a better mom and a better person 🙂

I love these features! Kelly is great! I actually met her briefly in person at Healthy Living Summit this past year.
