I’m a little late giving this update because, quite frankly, I’ve been enjoying not doing much of anything in the evenings. I definitely feel like I’m revolting a little since school ended. I haven’t done much running, I haven’t done much of anything productive and I’m ok with that for the moment. Eventually I’m going to have to get back on the horse and get some stuff done. There are craft projects to do, baby gifts to make, training runs to do and so much more.
MiniE:
As I sit here and think about it all, my little baby is growing up. MiniE is 16 weeks (plus a few days). She is smiling, laughing and starting to move.
Eating:
She is doing so well breastfeeding. In fact she’s doing so well, I’m starting to get nervous I’m not going to be able to keep up much longer. She is taking about 5 ounce a feeding or about 20 ounces during the time I’m at work. Sadly, I’m not getting that much during the day. More on that later. I’m thinking we will start with Rice next month. Man, time is flying.
Sleeping:
Again, she’s amazing. She is sleeping through the night on a pretty regular basis. She’s down by 8:30 and sleeps until 6:30 or 7:00. I only wish she would rub off on E who has regressed. It’s so frustrating.
Lately though MiniE has been learning how to scoot on her back and so when she does wake up at night it’s because she has scooted herself all the way to the crib walls and has gotten into an uncomfortable position.
Interacting:
She is so mild tempered (unless she’s hungry). She is so excited to see us and always has big smiles. She went to her first Cardinal game last week and loved it! I can’t wait to take her to more games.
She is so mild tempered you wouldn’t know, unless you saw all the drool that she was teething. Last night I found signs of her first tooth breaking through. That’s an entire month earlier than E.
Outside of the sleep issues, we are pretty fortunate family and I’m trying to teach E that everyday. At night, we kneel down and say our prayers and I tell him something I’m grateful for and I ask him. He thinks about it, gives me his “I’m pondering it” face then says.. “couch”. Now we are a furniture family, but I’m betting we just need to keep working on the concept.
Mommy:
Sleep:
See above. Sleep is inconsistent but not because of MiniE.
Breastfeeding:
Going back to work and breastfeeding provides new challenges in scheduling time to pump and drink water and go to meetings, and do everything else. So right now I’m only getting to pump twice and end up with about 12 ounces which is not enough. I’ve tapped back into my reserves and am pretty sure that we will have to start supplementing a lot sooner than we did wit E. I’m committed to 6 months and after that, we will just take it day by day.
Workouts and Weight Loss:I’m about 3 lbs away from my prebaby weight but I can tell my hips are still pretty wide. I have a few pair of dress pants I still can’t wear but ultimately I’m happy with where I’m at. I haven’t been eating as clean as I would like so I can’t complain.
I’ve also been trying to make workouts part of my workday. Even if they are short, if it opens up my evenings to spend time with the kids, then it’s a win in my book. I really wish I was a morning person. I really really do.
I’ve been doing some workouts at home and even tonight I did one with my laundry basket. 🙂 It was actually pretty fun and challenging. More to come on that.
Summer heat has finally kicked in around here and my desire to run has dropped a little. Well, ok, more than just a little. I’m a little burnt out so I’ve stayed away from it for about a week now but I joined Laura’s 5 mile, 10 Mile race schedule so I’m looking forward to having that to motivate me. In the meantime, I’ve been loving strength training again so any chance I get, that’s what I do.
S and I booked an anniversary trip to NYC in November. Oddly enough, I’ve never been there. I’ve been to NJ a handful of times, Boston a ton but never NYC so I’m looking forward to exploring the city, eating good foods and hopefully meeting some of fellow fit mamas.
Ok, so there you have it. That’s our update. Hope you have a great holiday weekend. We will be spending lots of time with family.
Any suggestions for things to do in NYC? Where should I go shopping? Where should we eat?
12 week update | 8 week Update | 4 Week Update
You’re gonna hate me for saying this – but perhaps you can do a power pump an hour after you put mini E to bed each night? I pumped exclusively for the first 6 weeks for my oldest who was born a preemie and was not big enough to latch on (though she did eventually get it), so I learned quite a few tips from an online community of pumping mommas of preemies on how to maintain or increase milk production and stores. We nursed for 8 months, at which point I then became a pumping, nursing, working mom like you and we managed to pump like that for 4-5 months. Feel free to message me if you;re interested in any tips.
I forgot to say – you look amazing! And I love your outfit! Mini E is so cute!
I can’t believe she’s 16 weeks already! Time is flying by. You are looking fierce – love black/white combo!
