We have a big week ahead, lots of events that could challenge our dedication to fitness so I’m putting my plan out there in the hopes that it will keep me accountable.
Accountability is one of the best tools we have fitness and I’m going to lean heavily on it this week.

Be accountable to yourself! |
The only “plan” I’m really following right now is the Runner’s World plan that got me through the Go! St. Louis run with a pretty strong performance for me. So I’ve dusted it off and started back on it for Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago in July. Based on that plan, this week should include:
Monday – Rest
Tuesday – 2 Miles
Wednesday – Rest
Thursday – 6 Miles with 4 miles at HMP
Friday – 2 Miles
Saturday – 3 Miles
Sunday – 9 Miles
But I always like to tweak the schedule because there’s no strength work built in and the last part of our week gets very busy so if I’m going to get the miles in I’m going to have to move things around.
I ran a long-ish run today so I’m not happy about taking away tomorrow’s rest day but all I’m going to do is move everything up a day and put my rest day on Friday since I know I won’t be getting to the gym or outside that day.
Someone asked me the other day why I don’t run in the mornings more and the honest answer is that it’s really hard for me to get up, get in a good workout then get ready for work and have my hair look presentable. I can get away with a bun every now and then but most of the time, I need to look professional and that really is a problem when it comes to morning workouts. I’ve thought about actually chopping my hair off in the hopes that it will free up my mornings more but whether or not it’s lack of commitment or my husbands begging not to cut it, I just haven’t.
So it’s really gonna look like this:
Monday – 2 Miles at goal 5K pace (8:30) & Core/TRX work
Tuesday – 60 Minute Cross Training (Bike Ride)
Wednesday – 6 Miles (4 Miles at HMP)
Thursday – 2 Miles (Morning Run)
Friday – Rest
Saturday – 3 Miles & Strength Work
Sunday – 9 Miles (Long and Slow)
Here’s to hoping your week is full of fitness and fun! Happy Monday!
What’s your weekly workout plan look like? What workout are you dreading this week and why? What workout are you looking forward to?
I’m not dreading any of my workouts this week but then again it’s only Mon morning 🙂 We’ll see if I say the same by Wed 🙂
I have 4 days of running, 2 Body Pump and 2 Yoga on the plan for this week.
I love body pump! Wish my gym had it.
I’m officially on summer vacation and look forward to my morning workouts. Like you, I can’t do morning workouts during the school year…I already get up to get ready at 530AM! Have a great week!
ugh! It’s so tough when you have to be at work so early. Enjoy your summer!
ahhh I caint share the dread publicly 🙂 but it’s there and it’s NOT THE WORKOUTS 🙂
well, I’m sending DREAD BE GONE vibes your way!
I’m looking forward to all my workouts. It’s time to ramp it up!
Get it girl!
Too early in the week for me to dread anything and it’s only week two of Marathon/Ultra training. I’m blessed with an amazing workout partner and she helps keep my accountable. This week I’ve got two 6 mile maintenance runs, a ten mile long run, and a 6 mile recovery run. Plus I have ample cross training.
Wow! Ultra training! You are lucky to have a workout buddy. good for you!
i’m just saying, your shoulders look boss in that picture. keep up the good work mama!
Thanks Lindsay!
Rock n Roll Chicago sounds like tons of fun. I did Dc and Vegas last year. I don’t really dread my workouts but I look forward to my kick boxing on Wed.
Confessions of A Mother Runner
I would love to do DC and Vegas. They look like such fun races!
Looks like a great week planned! I’m going with the flow these days, as some mornings I have more energy than others. I’m just happy to keep moving this last month before baby arrives!
You are doing so great staying active late in your pregnancy. Such an inspiration! Can not wait to meet baby!
I have nothing constructive to suggest, I’m only here to have your husband’s back: NO CUT HAIR.
You are too funny!
I run around 7pm during my daughter’s softball practice (there’s a track around the complex) and I have gotten such a hard time this week about it. So many “you really should do that at 5am before it’s this hot”s. Also I’m doing slow pace, low heart rate training so several commented on how my pace was slow because it was so hot. They may have gotten a nice evil eye as they sat in the shade no even thinking about exercise, haha! I have thought about chopping my hair to save time in the morning but I just can’t. The last time I did that I cried so I’m not going back, haha.
HA! I have always thought I would do that too. I am proud of you for making the most of your time! Did your daughter mind that you ran?
You are such and imspiration to follow. I had a baby Dec 30 and love following your blog gor motivation. I am struggling to regain my firmness and tone my core and arms. Do you have any program suggestions? Thanks so much.
Thank you! Pushups!

i love the accountability! yes, keeping it real and we all need that motivation. Sounds like a good week ahead for training, you can do it!
I think that I’m mostly looking forward to my workouts this week except that I’m rather sore for all the yoga I did this past weekend which made Monday’s run…um interesting 🙂 I try to go with the flow mostly but having a plan and a schedule does keep me accountable.
