I can’t tell you how blessed I feel that my mom, sisters and I were able to go on an amazing girls weekend to Sonoma this past weekend. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw pictures. My feed was flooded with them but just had to share more with you. We started our trip in San Francisco where I got to meet up with Pavement Runner and the November Project, you can read about it here!
Then it was off to Sonoma…we wouldn’t be tourists if we didn’t stop and take the cursory picture.

We stayed at the Lodge at Sonoma. I’m a Marriott loyal and this property is gorgeous so I’m never upset when I get to check in here!

We cleaned up and headed out to our first round of wineries. Our first stop was one of my favorites…Imagery. I have a soft spot for this place since it is where S and I first went when we headed out there over six years ago but it’s held up very well and the wine is still as good as ever.

After sipping a few of my favorites including a White Burgandy, we went to Imagery’s parent winery Benziger. Now I’ll be honest and say I wasn’t really looking forward to Benziger. It’s a label you see in the grocery store and our last attempt at going there was not good. They were rude and didn’t seem the least bit interested in serving S and I but I took them because the scenery is unbelievable. We got there at 4:00, only an hour before they were suppose to close and they let us slip in the tour even though we were the only ones.
We had a wonderful guide, Jesse, who taught us all about the soil, environmental conditions and the Biodynamic features of the winery including a flock of sheep that has been taught to essentially weed the wineries. It really is amazing. Jesse took us all around the winery giving my sisters and mom and I the royal treatment.
We tasted some amazing Estate wines including a Signature Chardonnay which I’m really wishing I had bought a few bottles of now. It was so good there. I bet it would be even better sitting in my hammock.
We went back to the hotel, rested a little bit then headed back downtown Sonoma to the Red Grape for dinner.
Our first full day in California was a huge hit. I wasn’t sure how we were going to top it. I mean, Pavement Runner, Coit Tower, The Lodge and two amazing wineries?! I’ll tell you about the rest of the trip but I want to know:
Do you like wine? Do you have any favorites?
My brother got married in Sonoma 2 years ago and I decided then and there that’s where I was retiring. I loved every minute of it! I think I’ve also convinced my cousins to invest in some real estate too, so we just need 10 million dollars to make it happen 🙂
