I consider myself an equal opportunity worker outer. Obviously running holds a special place in my heart but I love the gym too. We just switched gyms and my kids LOVE it which really makes going to the gym easier on everyone.
As a mom, I’ve realized how important it is to maximize your workout time. I realized this lesson early on after E was born (read about it here). My gym time is filled with things I can’t do at home (i.e. group fitness), or HIIT circuits filled with compound moves and functional strength exercises. Another move you will find embedded into all my workouts are planks! We all love ’em. There are so many reasons to love them. They work so much more than just our core. They are the quintessential compound movement. I thought I would share some of my favorite variations as well as some workouts that help you incorporate the plank into your workout! My instructional photos wouldn’t be complete without some kids.
