When There Is No Goal

August 4, 2014 5 Comments

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I will admit, and I’m not bragging, that I’m as Type A as it gets.  I’m a goal setter.  I love having goals but I don’t think it’s realistic, at least for me, to think that you can always be training for something.  Downtime is good and that’s where I am right now.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago is done.  Yes, I have Bike MS next month but it’s not a race, it’s just a ride and that’s how I’m thinking about it.  I just want to have fun.  I’ve been adding some bike time to my workouts but I’m not going hard core biking.  That’s just not me, I don’t think it will ever be.  I like biking when it’s part of a triathlon, otherwise, it’s just not the first, or second thing I would want to do.

So really, my race schedule doesn’t pick back up again till October.  Then it will be Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis weekend (5K Saturday, Half Marathon Sunday) and Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles on October 26th.

In this weird in between time, I don’t really plan workouts too strictly, I just kind of go with the flow.  I spend more time at the gym since it’s easier to do with the kids and I try to hit the weights.  Lately, I’ve been all over the board.  I’ve been doing versions of this same little workout that I call..Everything1 but the kitchen sink..basically, I just like to hit all the major muscle groups and squeeze in some cardio too.

I’m going to try to hold off on getting back into a real training plan for another week.  I’ll be on the road this week for work and I just don’t want that added stress.  So the next week will look a little like this:

What are your workouts like this week?  Are you training for something?

I’m up for the Got Chocolate Milk Team again, head over and check out our video and vote.

Agreed you can’t always be training for something bc that’s how you get hurt right? I like your workout plan for those off weeks.

Do you do all the RnR’s? Did you SD? and more importantly, are you doing LV?

Great workout! And definitely having some in between time is good for the mind and body! Voting for you right now.
