About a week ago, Jess over at BlondePonytail tagged me in a “Behind The Scenes” Blog tour. I met Jess two years ago at Hood to Coast. We were in different vans but we did get a little time to get to know each other. Recently she has moved to Champaign which is in my neck of the woods. We had a chance at a play date a couple of months ago and it was fabulous. So much fun to see Jada and MiniE play together while E tore apart their garage. I hope to have them here in STL for a little Magic House fun soon!
What am I working on?
I finally got around to redesigning the blog. I haven’t touched it since I started blogging so I figured it was time. With the redesign came a move to WordPress and I have loved it. Jeff over at Murnan Creative did a great job. Like Jess, I have been trying to post about three times a week but that doesn’t always happen. Having a full-time job that has me traveling all over the country means less time at home so when I am, all I want to do is cuddle the babies and husband so blogging takes a back seat. One of the hardest, but most rewarding realizations is that I can’t do it all so I really have had to prioritize which has also meant trying to keep my blogging pretty pure, only working with brands I truly believe in and feel that you will benefit from seeing.
I would love to grow my email subscriptions. I have realized the value of the email subscriptions. Since there are times I can’t get online, it’s handy to be able to read all my favorite bloggers right there in my email. So if you think about it, would you be so kind…subscribe to Mom’s Little Running Buddy over there on the right hand top corner. I also have been loving Instagram…it lets me connect with you all in real-time. So make sure we are connected there too!
How does my work differ from others in the genre?
Just like Jess, I imagine I fall into the healthy lifestyle blogger, I think what makes me a little different is my approach to balancing a full-time career with managing a family and all the other roles…all while still challenging myself to be healthy and fit. By sharing my experiences (and workouts) with it all, you get to see what’s worked and what hasn’t and hopefully learn a little something about trying to find make it all work.
I haven’t been able to do any personal training in a long time but I love it and find that this is the best way for me to help others try to get healthy! So ask me anything! Let’s do this together!
I also like to sprinkle in more of the parenting lifestyle posts. I love my kids and the ups and downs we have together. I post those under the parenting topic but I also love crafting and being creative with my hands and you can see some of that in the birthday party themes which I try to do completely by hand. Check them out in the Parenting page
Why do I write/create what I do?
I thought about this the other day…why do I blog? There are so many reasons but I think the primary one is the engagement and relationships. The honest truth is that since the kids have come around, my ability to get out with friends here has been pretty pathetic. I guess that is one thing that dropped off the radar. I know that my friends here are as busy as I am and I hate to impose on already busy schedules. Blogging connects us…it gives me a chance to interact with friends when it’s convenient for all of us. It’s the best of both worlds.
How does my writing/creative process work?
Ha! It’s pretty moment to moment. There was a time when I would be more planful (if that’s a word) but those days are gone. Most of the time, its real time blogging. I post the night before and usually end up scheduling it to post at midnight. I do schedule a few tweets the next day to promote the post. Then I focus the next day on blog hopping…reading about what my friends are up to. This is the part of the process I need to get better at…that’s why the email subscriptions are so important. (Go subscribe). I usually do all my blogging either in bed or on the couch. That’s how I made it through grad school too, for some reason the idea of sitting at a desk for any more time than I do during the day just makes me want to jump off a cliff.
What’s next?
Deborah over at Confessions of a Mother Runner. I haven’t met Deborah in person but I have really enjoyed getting to know her on the blog. She is a very genuine person that provides a variety of topics!
Kristen over at The Concrete Runner. If you don’t know Kristen I suggest you check her out. She’s another local STL friend but even more she’s an amazing mom to one with a second coming VERY soon, a teacher, volleyball coach and of course runner and a fast one at that. I wish we got to spend more time together but like I said before, I kind of suck at it.
Linsday over at Itz Linz. Again, a local STL friend and blogger who I also adore. She’s just recently taken on the role of mother and is embracing it. Her little guy is about adorable as you get. You won’t want to miss her!
Have a great monday!
Love that you did this. The reason why you blog? Absolutely yes. Same here.
I’m kinda jealous you got to playdate with Jess! She’s super sweet, and by proxy I’m sure you are too! Love your bedroom!! So cute. This is a really fun concept! I like this tag. Thank you for sharing your tour!
She is the best! Awe thanks Emily!
I LOVE THIS.
especially the why you blog.
RELATIONSHIPS
thats completely it here too.
I love that we all have that same intent! Relationships rock!!
I love that Jess is close enough for you to see and that you little ones are similar-aged. fun!
I know! It’s great! I would love to see you again soon too. 🙂
Relationships and blends are what make blogging the best. I didn’t realize you were in STL? How did I miss this.
🙂 I am. Are you from here?
Always fun to read about other bloggers behind the scenes. I love the reasons that you blog and I have loved the support and and relationships that I’ve developed through blogging. Thanks so much for mentioning how much you enjoy my blog as well. I do try to be me and I hope that’s why people will enjoy reading it. Look forward to reading more from you. Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving.
You’re welcome. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you!
Can I make a reservation at Hotel Running buddies?!! 🙂 Can’t wait to see you again!
You definitely can! I’ll text you! Jada would LOVE the magic house
Sounds like it was so much! It’s always great to meet other bloggers, and even more special that you guys both have little ones who played too!
What a fun post. I love getting to know the behind the scenes lives of other bloggers. As the mom of a 4 month old I can totally relate to missing out on friend time. It’s totally worth it to spend more time with my tiny human, but you’re right, blogging does fill that void a little bit and let me connect with other fitness minded moms!
thanks, girly!! now i just have to learn from you and learn to balance work, kiddo, AND working out!!!
🙂 You are rocking the role of mama!
What a great way to get a little peek into how you go about your blogging. I would definitely like to get more e-mail subscribers and would be curious to hear more about how you get that set up. How fun to have another blogger that you can meet up with occasionally. Thanks for the tour!
Thanks Sandra!
So interesting to get a little peek behind the scenes and read your thoughts on blogging. I’m always so interested in other bloggers processes, their motivation and how they make it works. Even with so many millions (it’s gotta be in the millions by now I imagine) of blogs out there, they’re still all so unique and that’s one of the most fun things about blogging, and reading blogs, as far as I’m concerned! Keep up the fantastic work!
