I always get excited when I see a box on the front porch because most of the time it’s for me (or the kids). Very rarely is it for S, poor guy gets left out. That is until recently. When the new Saucony Triumph came out FitFluential and Saucony offered to send him a pair. He jumped at the chance because he has been complaining to me that his current running shoes don’t seem to be giving him enough cushion and support so I knew this shoe would be perfect for him. Little did I know that I would have serious shoe envy. When they arrived, on my birthday, I looked at them longingly, half wishing they had accidentally sent them in a women’s size 8.5.
When I realized I was out of luck, I started peppering S with questions….
How do they feel?
Do you like the color?
Can I take a picture?
It was immediately evident that he is not use to being in the blog spotlight. 🙂 It’s been about a week now, we have been to they gym quite a few times and every time he has reached for his new Saucony Triumphs and I started to see his #WHOAFace. He’s a man of few words but when he likes something, his face says it all. Yesterday he said to me…”I could get a second pair of these”. That’s the sure sign of a shoe lover.
Let’s talk about the technology behind the shoe for a minute. The Saucony Triumph is the first in a new line of iSO shoes and combines two brand new technologies:
CUSHIONING: PWRGRID+
Engineering enhanced cushioning was the straightforward part. We started with the heights and geometries of the core POWERGRID platform (18 in the forefoot, 26 in the heel) and increased the midsole height by adding 3mm of foam to both the heel and forefoot. This change provides 20% more cushioning than the previous versions of these models while maintaining the same 8mm offset. This new, one-piece platform featuring 21mm in the forefoot and 29mm in the heel is called PWRGRID+, bringing the impact protection and comfort of the Triumph to a whole new level.
FIT: ISOFIT System
It’s common for running shoes that offer lots of cushioning to feature bulky uppers that can feel heavy and stiff. Our design team’s approach to the ISO•SERIES uppers was different. By combining a plush inner fit sleeve with a flexible external cage, ISOFIT technology provides a system that dynamically adapts to each individual part of the foot. In other words, it moves with the runner’s foot in motion.
