Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? Ours was pretty low-key as we’re gearing up for a crazy week. I have tomorrow off to spend time with the kids since it’s President’s Day, we’re supposed to get up to 10 inches of snow, I’m supposed to be in Orlando for a work trip Tuesday and Wednesday, then home Thursday and the family is off to Colorado for some skiing. It sounds exhausting and we haven’t even started it yet.
This might shock you but I’m not much of a skier. I love a good lodge, a drink and maybe a resort spa and I’m a happy camper. I am, however, excited to watch the kids experience the snow. E says he wants to try skiing so we’ll see what happens. Either way, one thing I’m excited about is new experiences, making memories and watching it all through kid eyes are the best. Read about why I love the journey.
Ok, shifting gears. A while back I told you about something completely out of my comfort zone that I did. Read about it here. So I have an exciting little update. I got a call from the casting director on Friday and they want to propose me for the Kansas City taping but they wanted me to add a little more to my audition tape. So I headed back to Kor, which I absolutely LOVE and taped a few other obstacles and updated my tape and I’m sharing it with you. Head over to my Instagram to see the video and the MLB baseball pitcher I got to workout with (you Toronto fans might recognize him).
Part of me would love nothing more than to get the official call while another part of me is freaking out at the thought. One thing I do know is that from the first contact back in December, I saw this as an opportunity to do something new and something I wouldn’t normally do and I embraced it. One thing I’m motivated by is the idea of
What if? More specifically What if I hadn’t tried? or What if I had?
A while back I shared my regret of a couple of decisions I made that still haunt me (read it here). Ever since, I look at every opportunity and if it’s right or even remotely right, I go for it. SO…if, by some crazy chance, this happens, I hope you’ll come along for the ride with me. If it doesn’t I’ll tell you that too. Disappointment is only bad if comes from never trying right?
You are soooooo gonna get it!
I used to ski but I liked snowboarding better! It’s been quite some time since I have done that though…so not sure if I would again. I’m trying to live my life at this point to not look back and say “what if I tried?” If I wonder, I have decided to just try myself from now on so I can see what happens! 🙂
Ooh exciting I am rooting for you! We are finally getting some snow too-exciting
AWESOME! you’ve got this!
I am not much of a skier either and my sister worked in Lake Tahoe for years! I wish I knew how but it seems like one of those things only young people can learn.
You GOT this! 🙂 And we are getting some snow here in Nashville also- I just want to sit by the first with some hot chocolate!
Its always scary to step outside of our comfort zones, but usually I look back on those experiences with zero regret once I’ve taken the leap forward. You’ve got this! 🙂
I would cheer so loud for you if you got on! That is such a cool opportunity and you’re right, I’d rather regret trying and failing and have an amazing experience than sitting back and wondering “what if?”
You’ve GOT this. I personally do not ski because my legs are wayyyy too fragile haha. I bruise like a peach!
This is AWESOME!!! I love that you were secretly training for this and I’d love to see you on the show! I love that show and secretly would want to do it too someday! How did you build all the obstacles to train for it?
SO COOL!! You’re going to get it and it’s going to be AMAZING!!!
Oh good luck!!! I recently stepped out of my comfort zone and applied for Amazing Race Canada with my best running friend (we didn’t get picked). I love to ski but the chalet and a glass of wine by the fire is nice too 🙂
Woot! I told my husband and he is TOTALLY interested in cheering for you in KC (while I am in Boston running the marathon) 😉
Woohoo! Good luck! I hope it works out for you.
And yes, your week sounds exhausting…
I wish I could ski…everyone makes it look so fun!
This opportunity sounds like a great one – I like the thought of “If it’s something you want to go just go for it.” Great mantra!
We lived in Colorado for 3 years and sad to say I didn’t ski. A year and a half before we moved I bought a brand new set of skiis determined to take it up. I got pregnant a month later and ended up with a c-section so never got to use my skiis…then we moved to DC. The skis are in storage now 🙁 Have a wonderful time in CO!! And I”m with you…i would much prefer a nice cozy lodge with some drinks and a spa 🙂
Such an exciting opportunity. I am so glad to hear that you have embraced the chance to go for it! It’s amazing how as we go older we learn to step out of our comfort zone more. I can’t wait to hear how this opportunity unfolds for you!
Love it. Absolutely love it. You totally deserve a spot!!
I learned a few years ago the value of owning my decisions no matter the outcome. No regrets. Just learning opportunities.
I love hearing stories about taking chances and stepping outside of your comfort zone! It encourages me to know that a) I’m not alone in that fear and b) I can do it too!!
BADASS! I’ve always wanted to audition for American Ninja Warrior! I took a parkour class a few years ago and it was SO much fun. Sadly, I also broke my hand a few years ago, and my grip strength has been HORRIBLE ever since. I’ve got to work on that before auditioning 🙂 Fingers crossed for you!!!
