Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!! I CAN NOT WAIT TO TELL YOU THIS! I’ve been holding on to this for way too long! It’s been a great year for racecations already this year. First it was Arizona in January, then it was OC earlier this month and now this!
You all know I freaking love Mizuno. Love is an understatement so when they invited me and three other amazing ladies to join them in Atlanta for the AJC Peachtree Road Race hosted by Atlanta Track Club in July I jumped. Well, I asked Scott first, then I said yes!! Mizuno is a huge partner this year and am so proud of them for supporting such a community oriented race.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race 10K is a 10-kilometer run held annually in Atlanta, Georgia
on July 4, Independence Day. The Peachtree Road Race is the world’s largest 10 kilometer race (an estimated
60,000 participants) a title it has held since the late 1970s- hosted by the Atlanta Track Club. The race has become
a city-wide tradition in which over 70,000 amateur and professional runners try to register for one of the limited
60,000 spots. The event also includes a wheelchair race (known as the Shepherd Center wheelchair division), which
precedes the footrace. In recent years the race also has a special divisions for soldiers stationed in the Middle East.
The race attracts some of the world’s elite 10K runners and has served as both the United States’ men’s and
women’s 10K championship. Learn More
What’s as exciting as the race is the idea of a weekend filled with my Mizuno family and some amazing running friends including:
I can not wait to spend some quality time with these ladies.
The race itself is something I’m still trying to figure out. I know July in Atlanta is going to feel like running in soup. Hot, humid and that’s something we’re use to in St. Louis but I’m still considering it a factor. I don’t have an official 10K PR so I want to run it hard and see what I’m capable of but it might require a little training. Over the course of the next couple months I’ll try to share my approach, what my strategy for racing with the heat will be as well as which shoe is right for me.
In the meantime, check out Mizuno and the other Peachtree partners

It’s funny, I tried very hard this year not to pin myself down to too many races to early in the year. I just know that the way my life is right now, the best approach for me is to just take it one day at a time but this year is shaping up nicely. I don’t take these opportunities for granted and I really love Mizuno for believing in me enough to invite me to such a prestigious event.
I hope you’ll follow along as this event and all the training leading up to it unfolds! It should be a great test for me to see what I can do with such a great distance race.
