I feel like it’s been raining on and off for like a week…wait it has but somehow I’ve managed to get out a little. Last week was crazy.
I spent the last part of the weekend and first few days of the week in Chicago at an interior design conference. I enjoyed four lake front miles before our first day of shows. What I didn’t realize at the time is that the day would include nothing but exploring the Merchandise Mart from top to bottom. So by the end of the day, I clocked about 10 miles. It wasn’t all running but it still felt good, just wish I was able to wear my Mizunos rather than the business flats I had packed.
I came home on Tuesday night, only to expect to turn around and leave again on Wednesday for Pittsburgh. I got up early to get my run in Wednesday morning. An early six that actually felt really good. I did a little work then headed to the airport. With all the rain in Texas, flying has been hard and it ultimately cancelled my flight.
Being home Thursday and Friday ended up feeling like party days since I wasn’t expecting to be there. I ended up getting to pick MiniE from the babysitter on Friday on foot. Yes, I pushed an empty stroller one way but that’s fine. It was fun to see her reaction when we opened the front door and she saw the stroller.
Saturday was a rest day for me but not the kids. MiniE had her first gymnastics class. I wasn’t sure if she was going to like it at first but once she warmed up to it, she had a blast!
We ended the day with a family walk/bike ride. I’m just amazed at how fast E can get going on his little Target bike. We’re already replaced the tires on it twice and I’m pretty sure the next pair isn’t too far away. MiniE loves to watch and loves to end our walks with a little jog of her own.
Sunday AM, was the Go! St. Louis All American 5K. I was really excited about the race (Thanks Chipotle for the entry). I was excited to see if I could PR on a course that touts PRs HOWEVER, Mother Nature decided to play a cruel joke on us and roll in a crazy storm that conveniently lasted just as long as my run which, unfortunately didn’t turn out to be a PR. It was good but not great and I’m using the rain as an excuse.
So now Monday is almost here and I’m looking forward to three days home with the kids. No travel, no major work (I do have a few meetings) just fun, fitness and lots of cuddles!!
Next up is the AJC Peachtree 10K in Atlanta with Mizuno. I seriously can’t wait for this trip for so many reasons. I’ve been trying to run in the heat and the humidity just so I won’t die but it’s going to be a tough race regardless. So far, my go-to shoe for training has been the Wave Rider 18. It’s the perfect show for those low to mid distance runs.
