It’s that time of year…the time to give. It’s one of my favorite parts of the season! We have done a lot of giving this year. The kids are starting to be old enough to really feel that undeniable feeling of good you feel when you give to others. One of the ways I have involved the kids in Christmas prep is to do some do it yourself gifts for our neighbors. Something that they can take part in. You can check out some of our past projects here and here. I started scouring Pinterest for some ideas about two weeks ago and nothing was really jumping out at me. After a little help from my mom, I settled on Candied Pecans in the crockpot.
The pecans were easy breezy. I found a recipe over at Family Fresh Meals. We made them and let them cool.
The kids and I couldn’t help but sneak a few. I found all the packaging at Micheal’s, all in, I think I paid $15. After a quick cleaning of the jars, we set to work filling them and putting the ribbon on them. Somehow I managed to forget to get a picture of the kids helping with the pecans so enjoy this one of them helping make the cookies for Santa which we also managed to do this weekend!
The neighbor gifts weren’t something I meant to turn into a tradition but the kids really enjoy making them and giving them and I enjoy watching them. This Christmas season has been so fun. This is the BEST age for watching the season unfold. Everything is magical and amazing and it really reminds me why I am so thankful that these two munchkins are in my life.
Do you do neighbor gifts? Do you make any DIY gifts?
