2016 Race Calendar (Sort of)

January 10, 2016 17 Comments

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

It’s January 10th and I have yet to sign up for any races.  In my dream world, I would put together a string of races that looks something like this:

2016 Race Calendar

Race Calendar

January – Rock ‘n’ Roll (5K and Half) (1/17)

February – Fly with the Eagles Half (2/13) – Link

March – St. Patrick’s Day 5 Miler (03/12) | Sperunking (03/19) CANCELLED DUE TO FLOODING |

April – Go! St. Louis (4/10) – Link | River to River Relay (04/16) – Link | Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville – Link

May – Asics Vine Body and Soul (05/12 & 5/13) – Link | Stroll ‘n’ Run (TBD) | Herrin Fest Triathlon (05/23) – Link | Tri’Rock San Diego (05/22) – Link

June -Fontana2SD – Fontana, CA (06/03) | Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Link SAVE $15 with code MOMSLRB Half Ironman (Cour’d’Alene) – Link

July – Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago (07/15) – Link | New Town Triathlon (07/09) – Link

September – Reach the Beach Link OR Octomax Triathlon (09/17) – Link | Trirock (TBD)

October – Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis – (10/16) – Link  | Go! Halloween Half (10/23) – Link

November – St. Louis Track Club Half Marathon (11/06) Link | Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas (11/10)

In the midst of all those would be a smattering of 5K’s (Run for sight).  I would also love to get across the pond for a race but that might have to wait another year.  In the mean time, the only things standing in my way of this amazing race schedule would be money for travel (darn kids and their need for education), coaching, some childcare and maybe a new bike.

Who knows what I’ll actually sign up for.  I don’t feel a ton of pressure to race this year.  It seems to be enough right now just to run but there’s still a part of me that wants to pack up, lace up and run so, as any parent knows, guess we’ll see what happens.

I wish my race calendar looked like this. #Runchat #TeamAsics #FitFluential

I am being really picky about my races this year for some reason. No more marathons after LA so that will be good. All I saw on your list was PLEASE COME TO SAN DIEGO!

I’m the same way, I only have a few on my calendar that I’m actually registered for. I think this year is the year of a racing break and running just for the fun of it!

I have Two races on my calendar; my two favorite half marathons, one is flat pavement Indianapolis monumental 11/5 and a trail half, home of one of my 50 milers and last years marathon. However, I am currently training for my first duathalon and as soon as the registration is open I will be signing up!! <— new goal!!

When do get your log runs in? How many times do you run a week? Do you run alone or with a running group?

I do my long runs on Sunday AM normally. I usually run about 4 times a week. I usually run alone but try to run with a group on Sundays.

[…] In the meantime it’s time to get back to training and working on solidifying my race calendar.  I have added a couple races and taken some off.  I was so happy to be chosen as a Rock ‘n’ Blog ambassador for the third year in a row so obviously I needed to take a look at what races I could get to and I still am eyeing up some triathlons so check it out the changes here.
