If you’re like me at all, you know Wednesday signifies the middle of the week. For me that means, there’s possibly only 16 hours meetings (yeah) standing between me and the weekend. I’m not exaggerating, my left ear is starting to evolve into something closely resembling a wireless headset earpiece. The week hasn’t necessarily been bad, just feels long so I thought I would break it up with a little good news I wanted to share and then I thought I’d ask you…
Oh wait!!
Before I dive into it, let me say THANK YOU!! for all the love on yesterday‘s post. It’s really odd how big of a decision it really was for me to do but I’m still very happy I did it. Twitter is fun again and I’m talking to you guys so much more easily! Simplify will continue to be the name of the game for me!
Can I call myself a real “writer” now?
I’m in my second month of writing for St. Louis Magazine and I’m loving it. When they approached me last year I wasn’t sure I could commit to it. It’s a steady writing gig and I’m not so much of a steady writer. One of the things I like about blogging is that with the exception of the occasional sponsored post, I can pretty much blog on my time on my topics. St. Louis Magazine has been extremely flexible and have worked with me well and it’s the best of both worlds. I get to talk about the collision of family, health and St. Louis. Three things I love! So far I’ve contributed three online posts. Here, here and here. So if I seem a little LESS frequent here, that’s partially why.
IDEA World Blogfest here I come!
For the second year in a row, I’ll be speaking at IDEA World’s Blogfest. The experience was a great one last year and I’m loving their shift in direction this year. Think tactical and purposeful. I’m bringing my MBA and day job as a corporate strategist to the group as we think “Big Picture” about blogging. I’m working on materials and a presentation so I’ll share it after the event in July. In the meantime, feel free to check out all the fun from 2015 here and here.
New Partnership Coming
There are some brands that you get really excited about and this one (although you might think it’s strange) is one I get super excited about. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag too soon but this partnership is allowing me to relive a memory from when I was a kid that I just love. A satiating little memory delivered to my door (weekly).
Race commitments
In my (sort-of) race calendar, I basically put out all the races I WISH I could do this year. But once you add life and all the other challenges, they don’t all happen but I have committed to a few and I keep that post updated so you can check it out here. I have it book marked so I can go back and see what’s coming up. I’ll DEFINITELY be running GO! St. Louis in Mid April (goal race), Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville in the last week of April early May and Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis in October (unless I can get Scott to go on another road trip to Denver). I’m also trying to do more local races. I miss my local race scene so I’m trying to get more of those on there too!
So there it is…just some things that keep me smiling. It’s time to get your answer…so won’t you please..
Tell me something good?!
I’m the same when it comes to races- basically last year I signed up for the two Disney races I’m doing and then I fill in as I go. I’d love to be able to do more but between travel expenses and work it gets hard!
Something good is today (Thursday) is my last day before vacation and Disney! I’m super excited to hit up the Princess half this weekend and the #werunsocial meetup Saturday!
Have a great weekend!
Sounds like you’ve got a lot of good stuff going on!
Yesterday’s speed work session was all about speed! That made me very happy!
Something good for me: The snow in the mountains FINALLY melted enough to where I can go back to work! When you work as a hiking guide and the road to the trailheads is closed for a week it can really cramp your style! I finally get to work again today 🙂 Can’t wait to hear about your new partnerships!
I was really wanting to make it to IDEA World, but I just can’t take the time off during prime hiking season when all the blogging conferences are going on 🙁 I’m sure you’ll be great there!
I just registered for the Disney Paris 5K!! So excited to be going to Paris to run this race. I did a 5k at Ecpot in 2014.
