Wahoo!! Week two of the Go! Half Marathon training plan is the books and I was pumped with how the week went. So let’s get right to the breakdown shall we? In case you missed it, here’s week one’s recap.
I’m on Day 8 of my antibiotics for my ears and I’m really starting to feel better. I probably shouldn’t have done the triathlon but it was just too tempting. I had been looking forward to it all week, well since I talked about it here.
The triathlon was indoor tri. My wave started at 6:50. It was so laidback, which really helped with the jitters. Triathlons remind of why I never did well in track. It’s one of those events where you have to be on from the starting gun because you don’t get a chance to make it up. I guess running is the same way but I don’t feel the nerves like I do when I’m doing triathlon. (MENTAL).
The swim was 750 yards, and I ended up with a really good time (for me) of just under 15 minutes. The bike was 18 miles on a spin bike and completely a different story. I thought I was doing pretty well but some people finished 7 or so minutes ahead of me. It reminded me of just how bad I am on the bike. The 5 mile run took about 47 minutes. I didn’t push it too hard and looking back maybe I should’ve have but, I really just wanted to see where I was starting from and after doing some miles on Saturday, my legs were a little tired.
Overall the event was great and I felt so glad that I had gotten my ass out of bed to do it. This next week will be a little more challenging as we have a little trip planned but I’m determined to get more time on the bike. Biking is one of those things (in my head) that it takes a LOT of time to improve at. I don’t feel like that about running (MENTAL). So I’ll see what I can do and if it doesn’t work, I’ll just be happy with finishing for now.
So the next official race is Sperunking in February. I can’t wait to share my gear (and give some away) with you! So stay tuned for that. In the meantime, I’m heading to bed. I have a sick little that is probably going to require most of my attention tonight (*sigh* a mother’s work is never done). Let me leave with this pic from MiniE’s gymanstics on Saturday. I just love watching her light up as she bounces all over that place.
How was your weekend? Did you compete? Did you have unseasonably warm weather like we did?
