I’ve talked about my love of the Asics Nimbus before. They got me through the New York Marathon last November so when I heard that there was going to be a new version, I got a little nervous and excited all at the same time. How could they possibly improve this shoe? What if they messed with a good thing? Then they arrived and I tried them on and realized that they HAD improved them.
It’s crazy that a shoe can inspire me so much but this one and I go way back. When I started dipping my toe in the endurance world, the Asics Gel-Nimbus is the shoe that I picked. I helped me go from collegiate athlete to fitness/figure competition to runner/triathlete and finally (the biggest of all) Mom.
To say my workouts have changed over the years is an understatement. My goals have changed and these shoes have made the leap with me.
Ever since E was born I’ve re-prioritized. My goals aren’t to be the best or the fastest anymore. I love challenging myself still but it’s all the elements of my fitness help me be a well rounded mom…functional fitness. Balance has become a four letter word. I know it doesn’t exist for me and never really will but I do strive to stay sane and running and fitness are a big part making that happen.
So if you’re looking for a shoe that will go the distance with you, check out the newest version of the Gel Nimbus 19. Shop the shoe here.
I’ll be traveling again this week so stay connected with me on Instagram and Snapchat (MomsLRB) to see where I am and what I’m up to.
What’s your go to shoe? Have you tried the Nimbus? What are your fitness goals and how have they changed over the years?
This is how I feel about my Brooks shoes. I’ve tried Asics a couple years ago, but they just don’t fit my narrow feet quite right.
Fitness goals are to continue to cross train and run strong. When I started running a few years ago, it was to prove I could do it when told I wouldn’t succeed.
I run for me now. My time doesn’t matter as much as it use to. I train hard, I prepare, I do it for me.
Thanks for sharing! Motivating and Inspiring
I always wear the oldest model! I find Dick’s does flash sales a lot, and they will sometimes include Mizunos, which I find go on sale less often than other brands. When I move up a model, I will go to a store to try it on and pay the full price, but I figure the difference helps “cover” the service of having my shoes fitted by a professional.
