I’m tired. Really tired. Why do you ask? Because this weekend was cra-cra (can a 36 year old say that?). It was the perfect storm all chaos and I loved every minute of it. Let’s recap shall we?
- Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis – I promise to do a full recap of the two races in an upcoming post but a small look into the weekend is necessary. 🙂
- The Original Running Buddy’s Birthday – E turns 6 this week and we were celebrating ALL weekend
- Soccer – The ever present soccer game. It was only an hour but it was still something to work into the weekend.
- Snapchat – Not only did we race this weekend but we snapped too! I took over the Rock ‘n’ Roll Snapchat
I have a hard time saying no…especially to things that I love and all of this fell into the “LOVE” bucket so I was determined to make it fit. SO here’s how it went…
I went to the expo when it opened at 3:00 on Friday which was good considering I forgot to sign up. Yeah, I’m that girl. I sat in line waiting to register and ended up talking some pretty inspirational dudes. It was worth ever minute I spent in line. Once I had my bibs in hand, I did my best to highlight the expo. I wish I had a picture but all I did is snap and you know that’s gone in 24 hours.
Got up and headed down to the race early to meet up with my We Run Social peeps. It was good to see some friends that live right here that I never get to run with and new friends that came in for the event.
The race started at 8:00, three miles later we were done and I was working my way home. Just in time to shower and get to soccer.
After that it was time to get ready for the family party. Most people dread their family time but I absolutely love it. Everyone has a great time together and it’s so much fun watching the kids. The party went into the late night hours which again, I’m not complaining about but it definitely made for a rough start Sunday AM.
I had VIP parking but it said I had to be there by 5:30. When my alarm went off I knew that wasn’t going to happen so I used planned B. Parking at my moms place. Yes, it was a little further away from the start but the parking was a sure thing.
I SERIOUSLY thought about bailing on this race. I was tired, maybe even a little hungover (in all transparency) but I went anyway. I ended up meeting up with a runner friend Chrissi who had just run Chicago so we just decided to take it slow and see how it goes. Turns out, it was one of the best races ever. Not because of the time on the clock either…because of the experience. Hopefully you followed it on Snapchat. Either way we finished, feeling good physically and mentally. It’s the way races are supposed to be!
Don’t ask me what I’m doing in this picture. 🙂 Thanks Chrissi for taking this pic!
After the race, it was time to shower again and get to E’s class party. How these events all JUST worked out timing is beyond me but they did so I went with it.
The party was a HUGE success. I loved watching the kids play. They played soccer and jumped in bounce houses for a full hour. E needed a bath after the party.
After all that we finally got to slow down. We begged the kids to take a nap. Thankfully they obliged. THANKFULLY…
This was one of those weekends where I was actually ready to go back to work. It moves slower than this weekend.
Now it’s time to focus on the week ahead.
How was your weekend?
