Wait…What?!

Watch this….

Yep.  You heard it right!  No surgery!  To say I was pumped is an understatement.  I wanted to look around for a camera.  Was I being punked?  So I guess what I have is a Baker Cyst (yeah I had to google it).  Check it out here. It’s treated with a cortisone shot into the knee.  Yeah, that part was NO fun but I’ll take it.

wait

I asked the doctor three times…

So…can I run?

You could run home from here.

PUMPED! BUT I still have a tender back so I’m going to get that looked at next make sure it’s just a matter of me being a more responsible athlete and stretching.

Why all this focus on being fully functional?  Well if you watched to YouTube you know…I’ll be competing in my first half Ironman in May of 2017!

Why Now?

Well it’s been on my bucketlist for YEARS and the kids are finally getting to a point where they aren’t SO co-dependent.  Sneaking out for runs or rides has been easier these days.  The husband was supportive so I thought “why not?”

What’s Next?

I’m shopping for a new bike and a coach.  My bike is from 2007 and as much as I love it, I feel like it’s time for an upgrade.  I’m researching Giant, Cervelo P series and Specialized Shiv.  I would like to stay in the $3,000 range which is basically entry level but I’m thinking I’ll get some improvements over my 9 year old bike.  As for the coaches, I’ve interviewed a couple here in the St. Louis area because I need one that will be here to workout with if I’m loosing motivation.

Want to be part of the journey?

I hope your answer is yes because I’m planning to take you along anyway.  I know many of you have talked about dipping your toe in triathlon so hopefully I can help you make the “transition” (see what I did there?).

Do you like the YouTube updates?  I think it’s nice…kind of real world style.  So make sure you subscribe to my YouTube Channel and you’ll see the updates before I get a chance to blog about it.

Wait…What?!! Injury Update and next steps! #WeRunSocial #Runchat

Happy for you that you don’t need surgery! And glad you made the final decision about the Half Ironman! Now, what are you doing with your old bike? I am needing an entry road bike, which I might have mentioned during the 5k. Haha I’m a poacher!

So great you don’t need surgery! Cortisone shot to the knee is no joke. I had one without consent once and it gave me some nasty side effects so go easy for a few weeks after. Congrats on getting into IM Chatt! I have friends who tried getting in for a few years and finally got in last year. You’re gonna crush it!

Amazing news!!!! The same actually happened to me a couple of years ago! Drs thought I tore a meniscus… then after the MRI it revealed it was a Bakers Cyst!

And I’m pumped for you taking on a half-iron man! Amazing!!!!!
