All it takes is one intense, personal goal to remind you who your worst enemy is…
Can you guess?
Yep, you!
I’m only into week two of Ironman 70.3 Training (there’s a 2 min video update below) and I’m already beating myself up.
Was that workout long enough? Did I push myself? Did I go through the motions? What am I doing?!
All these questions. They start to add up after a while. They break down confidence and can be very de-motivating (at least for me).
After a while I start questioning myself.
If I have another workout like that I might as well just not keep going.
It’s not good. Not good at all.
So rather than just work through this internally, I figured this was a good time to talk out loud and HOPEFULLY it will remind you to quiet the critic and just go!
We all know that some workouts will be better than others. That’s no shocker but with every crappy workout is an opportunity to beat it. To remind yourself of why you’re beating yourself up so hard in the first place and move past it.
I say it all the time, you hear it ALL the time (at least if you have a social media stream that looks like mine you do).
Strength comes from within
but so can criticism so make a conscious effort silence the bad, and listen to the good! Find your own personal mantra and when you need it, use it!!
Repeat it over and over and over and over! You can over power the negative!
You got this!!!!
And now your (not so) regularly scheduled ironman 70.3 update.
Quiet the critic- I really needed to read this today! I have been struggling with workouts so hard lately!!
