Isn’t it weird how emotionally tied to the weather we are?
All it takes is a week’s worth of rainy days to make you appreciate the nice days. We have been in a crappy weather pattern for what feels like weeks so when the weather broke this weekend, we took advantage!
We spent most of our time messing around in the back yard. Neighborhood kids came and went. Soccer games were played. Baseballs were hit. Bikes were ridden. I even got to ride min! It was beautiful!
I had my first real brick of the training cycle and I was super nervous all day Friday and up until the ride on Saturday. I headed out at 11:30 and was hoping to average about 15 mph. I think with stop lights and everything else it ended up around 14.7 mph. Then I jumped off the bike and laced up for my run and found myself striding really well (for me). The three miles flew past with a better than GRP time. Super exciting!
That night we cleaned up and went to E’s school auction. We clean up pretty well don’t you think?
Sunday was more of the same but with a buzz and excitement you feel in St. Louis. Sunday saw the Blues playing for a better playoff spot and the Cardinals opening day! That’s enough to make everyone in this town giddy! I also pounded out a 7 mile recovery run and it was slow but really relaxing! Can’t believe I’m saying that but it was! I took a different route and the change of scenery was ideal for keeping me focused!
These are the weekends I cherish the most. A little adult time. Unstructured play time and lots of it! Tired kids going to bed without hesitation and a little excitement about what’s to come!
These are the kinds of weekends I wish I could press rewind on. I don’t ever take these kind of weekends for granted! They are my favorite!
Did you have a good weekend?
