Marathoning and Mizuno

Well, it’s officially time to start training for the LA Marathon on March 18th. THANKFULLY, my knee seems to be responding well to the Cortisone shot.  Let’s hope it stays that way.

I’m excited for this race for SOOO many reasons.

  1. I get to train and run with my sister in law
  2. I get to see so many running friends new and old race weekend
  3. It’s LA so there’s that!
  4. And I get to train in some pretty amazing shoes including the Mizuno Wave Rider 21

As a neutral runner, the Mizuno Wave Rider has always been a favorite and the newest version, has been no exception.  I’ve already put about 25 miles on them and every mile has been great!  It’s a breathable, responsive shoe that I’m looking forward to testing out this training cycle.

To say I’m nervous about this training cycle is an understatement.  Life is hectic right now and adding marathon training sounds crazy but it also sounds a little calming.  Running has such a positive effect on me that assuming I can find the time, it will be so beneficial.

I’ve hired my coach again, Ryan, to help keep me on track and take some of the work away around creating my own plan.  It’s just easier that way.

I’m also worried about and motivated to keep up with my stretching.  I’m determined to keep my legs loose and ready for each run!

With all that said, I know that at the end of the day, crossing that finish line means making sure I’m ready, mentally and physically.  So the head game will be super important too.  It doesn’t help to have a good pair of shoes you can feel confident in and that’s what the Mizuno Wave Rider 21 is for me!  I’m looking at it as the shoe that will get me through!

Are you entering any training cycle?  What’s your next goal?  Do you like Mizuno?

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Mizuno. The opinions and text are all mine.

    Hello, Katie.

I really like it when you mentioned that life is hectic right now and adding marathon training sounds crazy but it also sounds a little calming. You are such an inspiration. I haven’t run any marathon yet, but I’m planning in the near future.

I’ve worn Asics Gel Kayanos for years and buy the new model every year, but I’ve been hearing so many people talk about the Mizuno Wave Rider 21 lately that I’m tempted to get a pair and compare.
